CLEVELAND (WJW) - Cuyahoga County officials are now saying the death of female inmate in May is an open homicide investigation.
A spokesperson for the county said no more information is available and declined to say if a suspect has been arrested or charged.
Tasha Grant, 39, was transferred from the jail to MetroHealth Medical Center on May 2. At the time, the county released a statement saying Grant was having, "complications due to preexisting medical conditions that resulted in a medical emergency."
Grant died at the hospital on May 5.
The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner's website lists the cause of Grant's death as "physical restraint in the setting of congestive heart failure" and the manner has been ruled a homicide.
