LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - When we finally get a brand new I-10 bridge of the Calcasieu River, drivers will have to pay tolls. That’s a concern because of issues with another tolled bridge on the other side of the state.
Following the completion of the Belle Chasse bridge, many complaints flooded in from residents, businesses, and even ride-share drivers who are refusing to drive over the bridge.
State lawmakers addressed the issue at the capitol this week where many residents voiced their concerns and complaints.
A single mom of three was charged $6,000 in just four months from crossing the bridge. She amongst many Plaquemine residents testified about billing, excessive fees, debit card glitches, and lack of customer service options.
