A Norman family said they are shocked and devastated to hear that the South Extension Turnpike will run through their brand-new property.

The shock came after the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority announced in a press conference a new alignment for the turnpike through Cleveland and McClain counties.

"I felt God in this place. It is so peaceful here. It is a very peaceful area,” said resident Juanita Wheeler about her home.

Wheeler shared that she is almost 80 years old.

Three weeks ago, she moved in with her daughter, Trina Hood, into Hood’s brand new home. She thought it would be her last move.
