A 53-year-old Salem man who owns a boat cover business is accused of shooting multiple rifle rounds at a woman’s vehicle after exposing himself to her and her family.
Police responded to a report of gunshots at around 12:03 a.m. Wednesday on Northeast Silverton Road near Northeast Hawthorne Avenue, the Salem Police Department said in a press release Wednesday afternoon.
Witnesses said a man exposed himself to a woman and her family as they sat in their vehicle in a parking lot.
The man then began to bang on the windows before going to his shop nearby, getting a rifle, and then firing multiple rounds at the victim’s vehicle as it fled.
When the woman called 911 to report the incident, she told the dispatcher she was being chased by a truck, the release said.
Police responded and arrest
