WELLINGTON, Kan. (KSNW) -- U.S. Highway 160 will temporarily close between Wellington and Winfield early next month.

Starting at 7 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 6, crews will be working to make repairs to the railroad crossing on the west side of Winfield, just east of the county fairgrounds. The work is expected to be completed by 5 p.m.

Highway traffic will be diverted north from Wellington onto U.S. Highway 81, to Kansas Highway 55 through Belle Plaine to Kansas Highway 15 and Udall, and K-15 to U.S. Highway 77 south to Winfield.

U.S. Highway 166 between Haven is not available as an alternate route because US 81 is closed north of South Haven due to a bridge replacement project that began in March and isn't scheduled to be completed until January 2026.
