STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -- St. Joseph by-the-Sea varsity cheerleading coach Marissa Cresci and her entire coaching staff have been relieved of their duties effective immediately, the Advance/SILive.com has learned.

Members of the former coaching staff confirmed their dismissal in an Instagram post on a team account on Tuesday. The post, featuring a lengthy statement from Cresci and her five assistant coaches, said it was “with a heavy heart [they] announce [they’ve] been forced to conclude [their] time as the coaching staff of St. Joseph by-the-Sea Varsity.
