In his return to ABC’s lineup on Tuesday, Jimmy Kimmel’s late night show scored 6.26 million viewers, according to Nielsen fast national data. That total comes despite the show being unavailable in 23% of the U.S. because of local TV giants Nexstar and Sinclair preempting coverage. The initial data also doesn’t include streaming.

For context, Stephen Colbert’s Late Show led late night programming over the last TV season with around 2.5 million viewers per night.

Additionally, Jimmy Kimmel Live had a 0.87 rating in the Adults 18-49 demo, which was the show’s highest rating in the demo in a decade for a regularly scheduled episode. Kimmel’s monologue clip also had more than 26 million views across YouTube and social.
