GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCBD) -- A 14-year-old student was detained Wednesday after authorities said he threatened to "blow up" his Georgetown County middle school.

The threat, made toward Rosemary Middle School, was typed on a school-issued computer and flagged by the Georgetown County School District's online monitoring system, according to the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office.

The school's safety department and school resource officer were subsequently notified.

"A search of the student's home did not uncover any bomb-making materials," a news release stated. "He was released to his parents and will be subject to the School District's disciplinary policy."

The school is operating under normal conditions.
