GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) -- A 14-year-old Georgetown County student was detained after allegedly threatening to blow up the school, the sheriff's office said Wednesday.

The Rosemary Middle School student was detained by deputies for allegedly typing a threat to blow up the school on his school-issued computer, according to the sheriff's office. The threat was discovered by the Georgetown County School District's online monitoring system, Lightspeed.

A search of the teen's home did not uncover any bomb-making materials, the sheriff's office said. He was released to his parents and will be subject to the school's disciplinary policy.

Rosemary Middle School operated under normal conditions after the incident.
