COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) -On Wednesday, city officials gathered for the grand opening of the new fire station 24, despite budget issues and delays to the project.

The new station is located on New Life Drive on the north side of town.

CSFD Fire Chief Randy Royal said, “What typically would take about two years took over three and a half years to get this done...We expect that they’re going to run a thousand calls this year.”

The mayor of Colorado Springs spoke about the city’s budget challenges and made changes to ensure the station would be completed this year.
