WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Alleged McGregor mass shooter Nicolas Jaimes-Hernandez returned to the McLennan County Jail Wednesday, while the McLennan County District Attorney’s Office is preparing to conduct a mock trial in his capital murder case using volunteer jurors from an upcoming jury pool.

Judge Thomas West of Waco’s 19th State District Court signed an order Sept. 16 declaring Jaimes-Hernandez competent to stand trial after the Mexican national spent four months at the San Antonio State Hospital.

Doctors there notified West earlier this month that Jaimes-Hernandez’s mental condition had improved enough to be determined competent to stand trial.
