NORWOOD, Mass. —
Until now, the families of Flight 5342 have focused much of their anger and frustration at the federal government.
But at Wednesday's lawsuit announcement , they said American Airlines is also to blame.
"The lack of attention on the airlines has been a point of frustration for me," said Doug Lane.
Lane's wife and son were among six members of the Skating Club of Boston returning from competition in Kansas.
Lane says American Airlines knew about dozens of near misses at the Washington D.C. airport, and didn't do enough to prevent them.
"They have a duty to crunch numbers, look at data, and be proactive about preventing things like this from ever happening," Lane said.
