Veteran motoring journalist Paul Gover has delivered a scathing assessment of Labor’s ambitious electric vehicle targets, warning they are unrealistic and out of step with global trends.
Speaking on Credlin on Wednesday night, Mr Gover said the Albanese government’s plan to force an EV shift was blatantly ignoring evidence from around the world.
“This is not just an issue in Australia,” he said.
“Volkswagen Group has just admitted the failed EV-only strategy at Porsche, which has cost them $8 billion and they’re having to go back to combustion engines and hybrids to protect the brand going into the future.”
The push for battery-powered cars is faltering far beyond Australia, with Europe already rethinking its bans on combustion engines.
