FRISCO CITY, Ala. (WKRG) — A lawsuit has been filed in Monroe County Circuit Court contesting the results of the Aug. 26 mayoral election in Frisco City, alleging fraud and misconduct related to absentee voting.

Current Frisco City Mayor Allen Lang filed the lawsuit against Mayor-elect Brandaun Love, who won the race.

Certified results showed Love received 255 votes, including 141 absentee ballots, while Lang received 165 votes, 15 of which were absentee.

Lang’s complaint argues that the unusually high percentage of absentee ballots, 37 percent of the total votes cast, raises legal red flags. The lawsuit claims that Love received 90 percent of the absentee vote and that many of those ballots were cast unlawfully.
