According to the California Highway Patrol in Gold Run, a motorcyclist was traveling EB I-80, approaching Crystal Springs, when for "unknown reason" the rider went off the roadway and was ejected from the motorcycle.

CHP said when fire personnel arrived, they administered CPR; however, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Surveillance Caltrans cameras displayed impacted traffic as drivers were being rerouted to allow crews to investigate the crash.

At this time, there is no estimated time for when the roadways will be open.
