LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The City of Lincoln is expected to officially partner with CenterPointe next week on Lincoln’s first permanent supportive housing facility , aimed at ending chronic homelessness by providing residents with independent living and tenancy skills.
The city broke ground on the building in October 2024, which will sit at the corner of 8th and J streets downtown.
The two-story, 15,000 square foot building will include 24 single bed apartments, common spaces and offices for CenterPointe staff.
Tami Lewis-Ahrendt, president and CEO of CenterPointe, said their job will be to manage the property and help connect residents with essential services such as healthcare, treatment and employment opportunities.
