LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Your morning coffee might be getting a bit more expensive, as tariffs continue to drive the price of coffee beans up.
Currently, a 10% government-imposed tariff is in effect for beans imported into the United States from any other country. In August, a 50% tariff was imposed to coffee beans shipped in from Brazil.
That means a lot in the business of coffee beans. Take a look at almost any container or bag that contains them, and odds are it came from outside America.
In fact, Hawaii and California are the only two U.S. states that grow the fruit.
