MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) -This week marks one year since the Metro bus rapid transit system started up in Madison.

Officials and passengers are reflecting on what did and did not work over the last year and are working to fix it.

Mick Rusch works for Metro Transit as the chief of development, and said that ridership is high this year. He added that the technology used to count riders is also new.

“Part of the equipment we got are passenger counters so you walk through a beam when you get on the bus and it counts,” Rusch said. “Everyone is now excited to ride the bus, we’ve had more excitement than I think we’ve had in a long time.”

WMTV accidently bumped into BRT rider Vikram Bangalore on Wednesday at the bus station, who we interviewed one year ago when the BRT line started.
