BATAVIA - The fatal bus accident on Aug. 22 on the New York State Thruway resulted in the largest single mobilization of first responders in recent memory, county legislators said Wednesday evening.
The County Legislature honored those who did what they could to save the victims that day with a commendation for "distinguished service in the face of tragedy." The honored were mainly responders, but some county department heads earned recognition as well. They also received commendations from State Sen. George Borrello and State Assemblyman Steve Hawley.
