GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A discussion inside the Hall County budget meeting made it clear that some board members are unhappy with how they are using tax payers’ money in the construction of the new addition to the Hall County Courthouse.
Gary Quandt, a commissioner of the board, spoke his mind on the topic saying, “people are hurting out there,” and “we are doing it at the expense of the tax payer.”
Quandt expressed his belief that the board is over doing property taxes and it is hurting the community.
While those concerns were heard, Scott Sorenson, a member of the Hall County board, wanted to focus on saving money in order to pay back the initial loan first in the hopes of both saving future tax payers and potentially shaving years off the loan payment.
