SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - The 8th named storm of the season, Humberto has developed several hundred miles NE of the Puerto Rico. We are also watching another area of concern near Puerto Rico which now has an 80% chance of developing over the next several days.
At this time it looks like Humberto and soon to be Imelda will stay away from our coast. The forecast continues to take Humberto off to the NW well east of Florida while what could be Imelda looks to be getting close or even into the NW Bahamas,
Now the two storms in about 4 or 5 days from now could be close enough to do a dance around each other known as the Fujiwhara effect. This phenomena was discovered by Sakuhei Fujiwhara and documented in 1921. It is where two storms if they are close enough, about 300 miles apart, can actually
