President Donald Trump on Monday warned pregnant women against taking Tylenol, claiming the common pain reliever could carry a “very increased risk” of autism in children.

“Don’t take it,” Trump said during remarks. “You’ll be uncomfortable; it won’t be as easy, maybe, but don’t take it.”

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) backed these claims, citing “multiple large-scale cohort studies” linking acetaminophen use during pregnancy to neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism and ADHD.

But medical experts and the studies themselves paint a far less definitive picture.
