AUSTIN, Texas — The Austin Police Department (APD) says it has made an arrest after a baby girl was found abandoned in a dumpster at a North Austin apartment complex on Saturday.

According to APD, the baby was found in a dumpster at an apartment complex in the 8600 block of North Lamar Boulevard. APD said officers first received the report at around 1:35 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

The baby is alive and recovering after being taken to Dell Children's Medical Center after she was found.

APD did not provide any information on the person who was arrested, but the department is set to hold a news conference at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday morning to provide additional details.
