CLEVELAND, Ohio - The main organizer of the Cleveland street takeovers was sentenced to prison Wednesday, marking the end of a case that resulted in the convictions of 23 people for commandeering city roadways last year.

Tyrique Loury of Garfield Heights must serve nine months behind bars and three years on probation after he pleaded guilty to several felonies, including failure to comply, disrupting public services and aggravated riot.

The takeovers terrified the city last fall. They shut down intersections with stunt driving, including “donuts” — the act of a driver spinning a car in a tight circle — and drew throngs of young people.

Prosecutors said Loury, 21, scouted the takeover locations in advance and used his Instagram account to instruct participants.
