PORTER COUNTY, Ind. (WNDU) - A man is arrested after an investigation that began in Illinois in 2024.

The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office in Illinois started the investigation after receiving several cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) related to activities of multiple Kik Messenger accounts.

It revealed the suspect, 36-year-old Timothy Olson, was living in Burns Harbor, so the case was transferred to the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Unit.

A subsequent search warrant issued in February confirmed Olson was the suspect, as several electronic devices were seized during the search.

The Indiana State Police Digital Forensics Unit conducted a forensic examination revealing files containing Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
