CHICAGO — The Mets were not digging out from a massive deficit this time around.

One night after rattling off six straight runs to overcome a five-run deficit and take down the Cubs in an emotional win, they could not replicate the feat again on Wednesday night.

Jonah Tong delivered a second straight abbreviated start, allowing five earned runs in two innings, and the Cubs continued to pile on as the Mets fell flat in a 10-3 loss in front of 35,060 fans at Wrigley Field.

After Tyrone Taylor, who returned from the injured list on Wednesday, helped Tong navigate through a first-inning jam by throwing out Michael Busch at home plate on a single up the middle, the 22-year-old could not get through the third inning.
