BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/FOX24) — According to Arkansas state law, there is no requirement for sellers to disclose floodplain information to buyers.
However, it is required for sellers to pass on information about any flood damage or prior flooding to the property.
According to the Northwest Arkansas Council, approximately 36 people are moving to the area per day. Many of those new residents are from out of state and may be unfamiliar with the state law.
Brian Buechler is a Bentonville homeowner whose mother's home experiences flooding in the home and around the property multiple times a year.
Buechler said no flood information was given to him before buying the home.
