HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - There were three fatal car crashes on Oahu in the last three days, with the most recent involving multiple cars and a 21-year-old man losing his life in Haleiwa.
The death brings Oahu’s traffic fatalities to 65 so far this year, compared to 32 at the same time last year.
Police reported a 58-year-old man was traveling northbound on Joseph P. Leong Highway around 6 a.m. Wednesday morning , when he crossed into the opposite lane and sideswiped a car.
The man kept driving and collided head-on with a second car driven by the 21-year-old victim, before sideswiping a third car.
The 21-year-old was thrown to the road and died at the scene.
“He just started his life out, and then his life ends. I feel for the family right now,” area resident Earl Dahlin said.
