LEXINGTON, Ky. (FOX 56) — When the horses and riders enter the ring at the Lexington Junior League Horse Show, they know it's time to perform. One way they know is by the organ music that comes from the tower behind the track. Gene Wright of Shelbyville has been caressing the keys at horse shows for more than 50 years.

"I'm not the main thing here," Wright said. "The horses are the main thing, and my job is to make them look better."

But Smith Lilly, a trainer from West Virginia, said Wright gets a lot of credit for setting the mood at horse shows.

"Gene is the Michael Jordan of horse show organists," Lilly said. "He is the greatest of all time. He's been doing all of the biggest shows for basically my entire competitive career, and I've been doing it a while."
