HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - There’s a big change coming to high school basketball in Kentucky.
Beginning in the 2027-28 season, boy’s and girl’s hoops will welcome the shot clock to the high school game. This is a somewhat unexpected move, but one that was eventually going to make it’s way to the game. Schools have some time before the implementation to purchase shot clocks and train operators. But the 35-second shot clock will be much more than an aesthetic shift, it’ll impact how the game is played.
“From a coach’s standpoint, offensively you’ve got to be able to get into your possession much quicker. You’ve got to be able to, that first seven to ten seconds, you’ve got to be intentional about getting that ball across half court. Conversely, as a team that likes to press, we can take and t
