Police have warned those celebrating the AFL grand final and travelling for the school holidays at the weekend that officers will be out in force amid the deadliest road toll in almost two decades.
WA Police Acting Commander Glenn Spencer, of road policing command, said more officers will be patrolling the roads over the next fortnight — including across the AFL grand final weekend — targeting speeding, drink and drug driving and mobile phone use.
“You can expect a heightened and high visibility police presence across the roads this weekend, targeting specifically drink driving and in conjunction with the AFL Grand Final, you can expect that if you return a positive breath test, that road policing staff will then give you a drug test as well, just to make sure that you’re not driving
