Australian wicketkeeper Alex Carey has announced his father Gordon has died.

Gordon battled leukemia for several years, forced to miss his son’s Test debut in 2021 while undergoing chemotherapy sessions.

Carey mourned the loss on Thursday with a photo of the pair in the rooms after a Test match in 2023-24.

“Rest in peace Dad,” he wrote.

“I love you.”

Carey’s sister Ashleigh also paid tribute to their father as “the greatest man” while Gordon’s cricket and football clubs shared heartfelt messages.
