Carmen DiNunzio, a high-ranking member of the New England Family of La Cosa Nostra, passed away peacefully on Sunday, as stated in his obituary.
Known as "The Cheeseman" due to his ownership of Fresh Cheese in Boston, Massachusetts, 68 year old DiNunzio had been battling Type 2 diabetes and heart problems in his final years, his lawyer revealed.
In 2009, he was handed a six-year prison sentence after admitting to conspiring to bribe a state official.
The bribe was linked to a proposed sale of materials for the Big Dig project, and involved a $10,000 down payment on the illicit payoff, according to the Boston Herald.
This news comes amidst criticism of the Secret Service following concerns over former President Trump's safety.
