Odisha is set to experience heavy rainfall over the next three days due to the presence of two low-pressure systems. One low-pressure area is currently active over the western Bay of Bengal while another is expected to form over the central Bay of Bengal on Thursday.

The state is likely to witness widespread rain from today, with southern Odisha expected to experience particularly intense showers. Some districts may also see thunderstorms and extremely heavy rainfall.

In view of the severe weather, the India Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Malkangiri district.

Similarly, a yellow alert has been issued for Gajapati, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, and Koraput districts, where rainfall of 7 to 11 cm is expected at one or two locations.
