The National Weather Service issued an updated weather alert at 3:02 a.m. on Thursday for dense fog until 6:15 a.m. for Southern Erie and Crawford County.

"Patchy dense fog has developed across the area early this morning, with visibility ranging from unrestricted to less than one-quarter of a mile. Fog is most widespread and dense in low-lying areas, especially near creeks and rivers. Motorists should be prepared for rapidly fluctuating and locally very low visibility early this morning. Visibility will gradually improve as fog lifts after sunrise," according to the weather service.
