Torrential rain is expected to sweep Mumbai during the festive weekend, causing significant disruptions across the city. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned against extremely heavy rainfall over the region and neighbouring districts until Sunday. A yellow alert has been issued for September 26, while an orange alert is in place on the 27th and 28th.

Mumbai has been experiencing an intermittent spell of rain accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds over the past few days. Residents experienced some respite from showers on Wednesday; however, they continued to remain under grey skies. The Met Department has predicted more rain, despite the city surpassing its monthly average quota this month.
