Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday took a swipe at the Congress over development issues, saying that the grand old party’s previous regimes never prioritised providing electricity to the people.
While addressing a gathering after launching and laying foundation stones of several projects worth over Rs 1,22,100 crore at Rajasthan’s Banswara, he said that several regions in the country didn’t have electricity even decades after independence.
“Congress never paid attention to the importance of electricity. When I had the opportunity to serve in 2014, there were 2.5 crore houses in the country that did not have an electricity connection.
