A tragic incident unfolded at Sassoon General Hospital in Pune on Thursday morning when a psychiatric patient, identified as Vijay, died after jumping from the 11th floor of the hospital building.

Vijay had been admitted on September 5 by the Railway Police after an earlier suicide attempt at a railway station. He was undergoing psychiatric treatment under close supervision. Despite monitoring, he managed to reach the hospital’s upper floor and ended his life, leaving doctors, staff, and visitors shocked.

Police have confirmed the incident and launched an investigation to determine how the patient accessed the restricted area. Preliminary reports indicate that Vijay had been battling severe mental health issues.
