GREENBRIER COUNTY W.Va. (WVDN) – Teddi Knight, a 1st grader in Ms. Crane’s class at Lewisburg Elementary, grew a sunflower with a 52-inch circumference. Peyton Peplowski, a 5th grader in Ms. Myles’ class, grew a 46 1/4″ sunflower. Teddi and Peyton both received the new grand prize award of $50, along with a Birds of West Virginia book. All students who presented a sunflower to be measured received $1 and a conservation certificate. The Lewisburg House and Garden Club is pleased by the students’ continued enthusiasm for the contest and thrilled to increase the previous grand prize from $25 to $50.
