SALISBURY — While nearby Charlotte canceled this year’s Hispanic Heritage Festival over immigration raid concerns, Salisbury was determined not to let that happen.

Salisbury’s community engagement director, Anne Little, indicated that Saturday’s Festival de Independencia LatinoAmericana mattered too much to cancel it over those kinds of concerns.

“Every indication that we had is that this is something our community wanted and looked forward to,” Little said.
