Helena gave Chick-fil-A permission to reroute water and sewer mains under its could-be location — something that has been key to over a year in project delays.

Chick-fil-A is on attempt No. 4 of submitting building plans for Queen City approval. Until the plans pass city engineer inspection, it won’t be granted a permit to build at 2770 N. Washington St., next to Nagoya Japanese Steakhouse and Chili’s Grill & Bar.

While there were multiple reasons for rejection, all previous attempts submitted July, September and October of 2024 cited water and sewer concerns.

Months passed without activity. The project nearly expired in April, but an extension bought Chick-fil-A six months to successfully pass its project.
