New Delhi, Sept 25: Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced a significant allocation of MGNREGA funds for water conservation during the launch of the ‘National Initiative on Water Security’.

Under this policy, 65% of funds in ‘over-exploited’ blocks and 40% in ‘semi-critical’ blocks must be spent on water-related works, with at least 30% allocated even in areas without water scarcity.

Emphasizing the urgency of water conservation, he highlighted the connection between water security and sustainable development. This initiative reflects Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s long-standing commitment to water conservation, aiming to address groundwater depletion effectively.
