SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - Mayor Tom Arceneaux will kick off the start of the Red River Revel by leading a second line parade on Thursday, Sept. 25.
The second line is a Louisiana tradition that symbolizes community spirit and celebration. The parade will begin at 10:55 a.m. at the Gate #2 entrance and will end on the main stage, where John “Papa” Gros will perform.
The celebration is being held in partnership with nonprofit, Beat the Streets. The group says their purpose is to assist in rebuilding communities and empower youth by providing cultural development through music and arts.
The theme of this year’s festival is “The Beat Goes On.”
