Local residents may notice increased activity and the sight of smoke and emergency lights near Fire Hall No. 4 this weekend, as Sault Ste. Marie Fire Services participate in a series of live fire training exercises.

The training will take place from Friday, Sept. 26 to Sunday, Sept. 28, running daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Sault Ste. Marie Regional Fire Training Center, located at 65 Old Garden River Road.

Crews will be using a mobile live fire training unit, a specialized structure designed to safely simulate real fire conditions. The unit provides firefighters with hands-on experience in a controlled environment, enhancing their readiness for real emergencies.
