MILWAUKEE — Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin announced that abortions will be put on hold starting Oct. 1, following President Donald Trump's budget bill, which Planned Parenthood claims includes steep cuts to Medicaid, including a provision to defund the organization.
Based in Milwaukee since its inception in 1935, Planned Parenthood provides health care to approximately 60,000 people annually throughout its 24 health centers in Wisconsin.
In a statement on Planned Parenthood's website, the organization stated it is closely monitoring the situation and that patients can continue to use their BadgerCare and FPOS at Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin.
Additionally, PPWI released a statement on Facebook, indicating that they are pursuing every available option to restore their full services.
