CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - A Charlotte man was sentenced to prison after driving into a Medic truck at full speed in 2023, seriously injuring three people and causing the ambulance to split.
Brian Ogbonna was found guilty on Sept. 23, 2025, of felony failure to move over causing serious injury, and three counts of assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.
According to court documents, a Medic truck was responding to a crash on May 12, 2023, at the intersection of North Tryon Street and Mallard Creek Church Road. The ambulance was parked with its emergency lights on, and two Medic personnel were treating a patient in the back.
Ogbonna drove through the intersection without yielding and hit the ambulance’s rear driver’s side tires. The impact of the crash caused the ambulance’
