Plans to allow an Aberdeen mosque to operate in a former motorbike showroom have been approved following unanimous backing by planners.

The proposals by applicants MECCA were put forward to to make the changes to the former Free Greyfriars Church and Old Episcopal Church in Crown Street .

The building has been vacant since 2022, having previously been in "long-standing use for the sale and repair of motorcycles".

More than 40 objections were made to the plans, but Aberdeen City Council's planning committee unanimously approved the application.

The plans were recommended for approval prior to the decision due to them "bringing a vacant historic granite building back into use".
