CINCINNATI (WXIX) - During the final week of the regular season, the Cincinnati Reds had the opportunity to take advantage of Monday’s off day, move the team’s top four starters a day up in the starting rotation and then give No. 1 starter Hunter Greene the chance to pitch twice instead of once during the final six games of the regular season.

Last Thursday, Greene threw a complete game shutout on 109 pitches. Tuesday’s series opener against the Pirates would have kept him on a five day routine. If Greene started Tuesday, then he would also have been able to start Game 162 on Sunday on four days rest if necessary.
