SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - On Sept. 24 around 7 a.m., two vehicles collided head-on at State Road 31 and Bermont Rd. with each other killing two people.

Charlotte County Public Safety crews responded to the incident.

An off-duty firefighter was the first on the scene, assisting until emergency crews arrived.

Responders found both vehicles with significant front-end damage, consistent with head-on impacts.

The victims were pronounced dead on the scene. Their identities have not yet been released.

SR 31 south of Bermont was closed for a few hours but has since reopened.

The crash remains under investigation.
