SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - Changes are now in effect for those eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration in August narrowed the approval of the new, updated COVID-19 vaccines to people who are over 65 or younger individuals with underlying conditions that put them at a higher risk for severe disease.
On Tuesday, participating pharmacies like Publix and Walgreens announced they’re offering the vaccine without a prescription in Florida.
Meanwhile, CVS is still requiring a prescription, even if you meet all of the qualifications.
Publix released a statement to receive the COVID-19 vaccine, which said Publix pharmacies in Florida are now offering the COVID-19 vaccine to eligible individuals 18 years and older.
